Dr. Lopez-Canino earned his medical degree and completed his residency in General Surgery in Cuba. He was then appointed as an Attending Surgeon at his alma mater, and later he relocated as a Consultant Surgeon at Edendale Hospital in Natal, South Africa. After two years in South Africa he made his way to the United States.
He finished his internship in General Surgery at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, and completed his residency in General Surgery at University of South Florida
